AUTOMATIC TRAVELING HEAD DIE CUTTING PRESS

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

Stroke control – Motorized mechanical positive stops on the cutting head.

Die Mounting – Manual die rails mounted under the head for ease of die change. Dies loaded through a side access window.

X-Y Axis Travel – Automatic, servo drive ball screw positioning system, accuracy to ±0.1mm, one for head traverse and one for feed.

Pressure – Thirty three (33) US tons.

Guarding – Extruded profile aluminum framework with Lexan access panels and electrical interlocks on front and rear of press.

Construction – Rigid box frame-steel weldment.

Mechanical Stops – Bottom stroke limit controlled by the synchronized, motorized adjustable positive stops for longer belt life. Located on the cutting head of press.

Hydraulic System – Unit located in the base of the press, complete with motor, valves, pump, constant temperature oil cooler, etc.

Hydraulic Oil – Type AW 46


ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Motor – 7.5 Horsepower (TEFC) 3 phase, AC, 480V/230V, 60 cycle (please confirm voltage required).

Traverse Motor – Servo driven with acceleration and deceleration ramps for head travel accuracy. Accuracy ± 0.1mm

Activation Controls – Various functions operated through the PC.


CONTROLS

Panel & Box – Enclosure, which is PC based, incorporates all the controls for the press, including those for set-up/manual operation, as well as those for automatic operation. Die storage is subject to hard disc memory capability with a minimum of 5000 die, die storage. PC is used for setting lateral head traverse, and/or feed distance setting, together with controls necessary for the following programs:

Programming:

Set-Up – Press is capable of cutting one (1) row for set-up purposes.


Continuous Cutting – Head moves automatically pre-determined distance to the next cutting position. Cutting stroke is then automatically initiated, and this cycle repeats itself on a continuous basis, with a feed cycle at the end of each row.


Interlock – Press is capable of cutting/nesting circles.

Punch Press – Machine is capable of running in a punch press mode whereby the head remains stationary.

Operational Shutdown – Mushroom type shut-off buttons – one on each side of the press (stops action of press).


FEED SYSTEM

Type – Continuous Nylon Belt Conveyor traveling through press, utilized as a material carrier and cutting surface, transported by a rear-mounted motor combined with a clamp feed unit. Clamp opening approx. 5”. Infeed staging area approx. 23” beyond rear guard. Outfeed portion of cutting belt approx. 20” beyond front guard.

Pneumatic Clamp Feed mounted on rear of press set to operate automatically in conjunction with cutting cycle. Clamp Feed complete with one (1) movable pneumatically actuated clamp bar with linear bearing guide; one (1) pneumatically actuated fixed clamp bar with controls, and both clamps equipped with stop mechanism to control closing position so that material is not crushed. Rigid tubular/angle steel construction. Pneumatic clamp bar mounted on outfeed side of press for holding material down during the cut cycle.

Size – Approx. 65” wide belt.

Controls – Menu driven by operator interface control panel.

Motor – High performance variable speed servo drive, combined with reducer group for smooth, accurate and rapid movement of the clamp bars.

Controls – Feed distance setting—menu driven through the operator interface on control panel.

Belt Shifter – Unit moves the belt a very small amount after each feed in order to increase belt life, improve cut quality, and maintain proper tracking of the cutting belt. Total feed distance is ± 0.787”.
